It Has Happened - No Kitesurfing at Alum Creek

The Park officers have said there is to be no Kitesurfing on Alum Creek until such time as a permit is approved. Ron has begun the permit process, but we need to hear from all of those Central Ohio Kite Surfers. Post your support for obtsining a permit to allow responsible kiteboarding on Ohio Waters.

The Good News is the Permit was approved. The Bad news is it only covers Ron and I. If you would like to KiteSurf on Alum Creek you must obtain a permit from the Park Service. The permit process was 33 days for us, but it should take considerably less time now. In any case plan ahead of when you would like to be on the lake. If you Kite Surf without a Permit you risk getting a ticket and being kicked off the lake. We hope to see you there soon with a permit. The Lake has a lot of potential on steady wind days, but those can be rare around Ohio sometimes.

I asked for the application for a "special event" from the office yesterday.  And I was told that I had to select the exact day on which I want to kite?.... 23 days in advance?

I explained to the person on the phone that its nearly impossible to predict the wind conditions this far in advance.  How did you guys handle this?

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you on the water!

Ron said he listed March to October, or just put a whole year.
Although several of the people have not filled one out.
They are more accepting of it now.
