You don't kitesurf on Lake Erie? I have been to Maumee Bay, but not around Kelly's Island before. I live in Columbus, and fly mostly at Alum Creek because it is close to home.
There are three beaches listed up on Lake Erie,

The other three are our puny little Alum Creek. It is a puddle in comparison to Lake Erie.

October is when Ohio winds finally get stronger, we kite until the water freezes, then we put skis or boards on. This time of year there are far fewer boats.
