Have you been out at Alum Creek lately? I drove up there and saw that it could have some potential. Let me know when the next is that you're heading out. It'd be nice to get a session in.

The wind was on the low end for the 21M BFKs, but it was also amazingling consistent. We were told (twice) to stay out of the swim area so be careful. The water patrol was not clear on where exactly we could be the first time (in our defense). There were only 2 dozen people and about 8 boats on the whole lake. This place would be ideal for a NW wind because you could launch from one end of the beach and land at the other end. NE could be good too.

PS When they remove the bouys in Fall this Beach will be awesome for any N direction (mostly onshore/side onshore)!

Anyone Kiting in October

Hi,
I'm new to kiteboarding and looking for some decent beaches in Ohio. I'm located up on Kellys Island in Lake Erie and I'm getting sick of driving to Lake St. Clair.
Any help is appreciated!

If enough people show up we may organize a Down winder depending on conditions. Hopefully it will be a little overcast to keep the people away. The last few weekends have been too crowded to be fun or safe.
If it is southwest as predicted we will be able to stay out of the boats paths in the cove to the North of the ramp. It is shallow in spots and mostly no wake so the boaters stay out toward the main lake. This can mean bigger wave/chop tough as boat wakes interact with each other.
If it turns out to be a bust we may header over to try Hoover Reservoir. The northern end of the lake has a larger area that could be suitable for this wind direction.
Good Winds and Kite Safe,

I was just offshore from the Boat ramp and the wind was blowing it up the lake. By the time I went out on the Jet Ski, it was nowhere to be found. It was very hard to see since the waves were 2 to 4 feet tall when I was trying to body drag back to it. When I was trying to body drag to it, it was upside down and did not drift down wind as fast as I was. If anyone hears anything about it, give me a call 306-6389.
Unfortunately I did not have my name or address written on the board. That is a mistake I don't plan on repeating.
Thanks,Ken

Alum Creek Today - Mon 6/5

Hey the weather looks good for this afternoon, I'll be there if anyone wants to join me, I just got my permit in the mail - woohoo. It's located west out of Delaware city on rt. 36 about 2 miles, on the left. The biggest problem is that there is an airport a couple miles away and all the pilots circle about 10 times to figure out what the heck I'm doing, oh and the shooting range, just duck when you go by, you'll be alright.

The biggest obstacle are the Softball diamond backstops around the edges of the fields. The ground is pretty even and the grass tends to be short most of the time. The diamonds turn into a muddy mess if the dirt is wet, but can be easily avoided.
Yesterday I flew my BFK 16 in a SSW wind blowing 8-10 MPH with gusts to 15. I was practicing my jumping technique by standing in the same position as you would when you load your board edge and sending the kite. My Landings were pretty soft and the height was incredible, I guess 15 feet at times.

Tomorrow Morning 12-15

Thinking of heading out in the am, tomorrow morning, Any recomendations for a SE? Predicting 12knots by 10am. Yesterday the wind was gusty and shifty and not especially consistent. It had a tendency to pull you off balance when riding the land board.
